MTWTh

Monday. Halloween.

Tuesday.  My nephew Kamani turned 9.  We went to town in the morning to get Tim's social security business taken care of, we stopped at Ala Moana to get some coffee from Honolulu Coffee Co. (2nd best coffee on Oahu), then we stopped in Haleiwa because Nainoa was hungry, and then I got to surf!  I went out to Freddie's by V-land while Tim and Nainoa sat on the beach under a tree.  Nainoa also put his feet into the ocean for the first time.  It was a beautiful afternoon, the sun was setting and the waves weren't to big.

Wednesday.  Went surfing AGAIN!  This time, Tim dropped me off at v-land an went for a drive to haleiwa with Nainoa.  Their first outing all alone without mommy!  The waves were small and inconsistent but I had a good time and got a good workout.  It rained a lot while I was in the water but at one point it stopped, the sun started to shine and then there was the most GLORIOUS rainbow just sitting right on the ocean.  It was so beautiful and perfect.

I took a well needed nap in the afternoon.  I was so tired, but Nainoa woke up and needed a feed so I fed him and then he fell asleep on me because I fell asleep.  We slept like that for an hour.  We visited Aunty Laurie in the afternoon then had dinner at Kahuku Grill. YUM.

Thursday.  Today is Thursday!  I'm catching up on our blog, and catching up with The Vampire Diaries, and rewatching the latest episode of Revenge.   I knew that Tyler guy was gay!  Well baby is crying woke up from his nap.  Back to work!

I don't think I posted this.  It's a picture of Nainoa the day he got his shots.  I'm so behind on our blog...
He's getting so big! Ah... I love him.

Trick-O-Treat Smell My Feet!

October was such a fun month!  I think I had the best Halloween night ever since being a little kid and I'm feeling so pumped and excited for the rest of the holidays that I get to spend with MY family for the rest of my life!  We went trick-o-treating on Halloween night with my sister Larissa and her kids in Kahuku.  After going there I'm not going back to Laie to trick-o-treat.  Laie = waste time!  They give better candy in Kahuku AND they really get into it.  There were more than 10 houses that were really decked out in Halloween Decor.  Some had mini haunted houses that you had to walk through to get to the candy bowl and they aren't greedy with adults either!  Several families offered candy to me and Tim!  Yum!

Me, Maka(orange hair), Timo, Rissa, Maihe (green) Tuto, Nava, Kamani and my Timmy texting.
You can't see Nainoa because he was in his stroller.  He was dressed as Bambam, and Tim and I were Barney and Betty Rubble.

I went over to Rissa's in the morning to help the kids get ready for school.  Kahuku Elementary has a mini parade for their students so everyone can show off their costumes.  I made Kamani's skeleton costume with some paper printouts I found online.  I glued them to some cardboard and we safety pinned them to his black t-shirt and pants.  It was such a last minute costume that I decided to do for him the night before Halloween.  Thank you google I love you!  Tuto dressed up as Nephi from the Book of Mormon.  Aunty amber made his shield and I helped put together his sword.  We had some extra material lying around the house that we used for his tunic.

The twins (Maka & Maihe) were supposed to be treasure trolls.  I found some hair spray paint at Long's that I randomly bought earlier the previous day so we decided to go with it.  We found these little lights and put them on yarn around the kids necks to hang by their piko.  Maihe didn't like the costume much and didn't want to pose for pictures.  Rissa (my sister) drew weird symbols on their arms and faces to complete the look.  Maihe was being a real grump!  He was worried the other kids wouldn't think it was cool.  Both boys said they wanted a sword and shield like Tuto.

I got him to smile for this picture because I told him if he didn't I wouldn't make him a sword and shield. Hahaha it worked!

My dad took the twins to preschool while Rissa, Nava, Nainoa and I walked down to the elementary school to watch the parade.  Not trying to make anyone feel bad, but man, it's so shame to be one of the kids who's not wearing a costume.  I'm speaking from experience.  I'm glad I could help my nephews avoid this shame.  Haha.
After that I went home and worked on shields for the twinnies.  In the end they all ended up being the sons of Helaman (from the BoM).  Kamani didn't like his bones and ended up wearing glow sticks for his costume.  I helped him duck tape it to his costume.

The little princess Nava was Minnie Mouse with wings.  She got her dress from when they were in NZ and I let her use my Minnie ears from Tokyo Disney.

Here's the Army of Helaman with Minnie

Saturday's Warrior

We got a ton of Candy and a really good exercise in!  Nainoa didn't get any candy.  His cousin Kamani said to him, "It's okay Nainoa you're not the only little baby that doesn't have teeth, don't worry you'll get them someday and then you can have candy too."  He's such a sweetheart!

Tuto also had some really cute things to say to Nainoa.  He was leading the pack and all his brothers and sister were following him from house to house.  I was so proud of him.  He came up to Nainoa and said, "Nainoa you wanna see hot to trick-o-treat?  WATCH AND LEARN!"  Then he'd run off back to the front of everyone again.

My little Bambam.  He slept most of the time but woke up towards the end to give his dad his grumpy  face.

The kids were so funny.  I wanted them to take a picture in someone's yard and instead of just looking at the camera they all wanted to pose. Haha little cuties.

Nainoa and his daddy.  Barney & little Bambam

Halloween was our little families first holiday together and I can't wait for the rest of the holidays to come.  All of our costumes were made very last minute and it turned out better than I expected.  Next year I will plan ahead.  Happy Halloween!

Pixie Dust Please

Nainoa slept for 10 hours last night!  Holy moly!  I'm happy for him.  He needs that rest so that he can grow healthy and strong.  I wish I could say that I slept the whole time he was sleeping.  I went to bed at 11 and woke up at 4:30 to pump!  A little over half an hour later I got back to bed.  Then it was 7 and time to wake up again.

We went to see my OB today.  I had a nice ice latte and turkey panini for lunch and drove home listening to my favorite local band from high school Opihi Pickers - Beginnings.  I can still remember all the words to most of the songs!  Even though I think the lyrics are, "bubble-gum" I still really enjoy them.  We got stuck behind some really slow cars on the way home and somehow I managed to stay patient even inside my mind.  This is a huge feat for me.  Usually I'm complaining while verbally and mentally abusing the driver in front of me.  I got home and was able to do some cleaning around the house before it was time to feed my hungry baby.

We got visit my Aunty Laurie in the afternoon.  She is like my second mother and one of the best teachers I know.  I love her so much.  She teaches Jr. Kindergarten at Hau'ula Elementary and her daughter teaches at Bright Beginnings preschool  They are such talented women and so loving.  They have so much love to share and are so good at sharing it.  I want to be like that.  Sometimes I find it hard to make new friends or to even carry a conversation with people I don't really know.  I'm not used to sharing myself or my thoughts.  I do try, sometimes.

Tim came home from work and we had a nice dinner at the Shark's Cove Grill.  Yes, we ate there AGAIN.  I had the yummy chicken sandwich.  Again.  I want to try and cook dinner tomorrow night but we'll see what happens.

My mom flew out to LA on monday and will be going to utah soon to see her grandchildren.  I miss her.  The house feels less cheery and kind of dark without her.  She's so hardworking and so loving!  This house is lonely without her.

There are so many things I'm thinking about and things I want to say but I guess this blog isn't the time and place for them.  One of my friends who has a blog wrote something that really stood out to me.  She wrote about how she is still herself outside of being a mother and a wife.  I really like that.  I think sometimes, as women, we put ourselves on the back burner to everything else, and before we realize it we are about to boil over.  I like reading her blog because she is just herself and that's what's really cool.  AND she's not complaining or being negative.  I tried to do this tonight, but it turned into a pity party and I felt so pathetic I just deleted everything I wrote.

Today was a long day.  Physically, mentally, and emotionally I feel drained.  Trying to put on a happy face and think happy thoughts so I can fall into sweet sleep; I already know it's not going to work.  I'm still lucky to be alive and, I guess, lucky that tomorrow will only be as good as I make it.  Happy thoughts and pixie dust.

So now I'm going to count my blessings pick myself up and go to bed.

10 Weeks

Nainoa is 10 weeks tomorrow!

Then

It's 7am, I just finishing pumping the extras that Nainoa didn't drink.  I got 7 oz!  Which leads me to think that maybe I have 5 oz on each side in the morning.  Nainoa is averaging 7.5 hours of sleep every night, so by the time the morning feed arrives I'm pretty full.  Finally I have boobs!  Lol.

Tim left early this morning to go to work.  He started work as a stunt man on the set of Hawaii 5-0 this week!  He's going to be in episode 10 as a navy seal on a rogue mission.  I feel so cool because I know what's going to happen. Heehee!

We tried to give Nainoa a bottle for the first time the other day.  It was so cute!  I don't know why I thought it would just come naturally.  Drinking from a bottle is a skill that has to be learned, and I didn't realize this until we tried to feed him one.  He kept pushing it out of his mouth with his tongue.  I'm going to try to give him one again later on today.

The little man is growing so fast.  Too fast!  We just started putting him to sleep in his "Bubbaroo," which is a sleeping bag for babies.  His Meme sent it from Australia and he LOVES it.  It also makes feeding in the middle of the night easier too.  He made his first projectile poop the other morning for his daddy, and since then we've had a few more incidents on his changing table.  I look at pictures of him when he was first born and am amazed at how much he has changed.  He loves being rocked to sleep.  I was trying to get him to fall asleep on his own without being rocked but that's easier said then done.  He cries so hard!  As soon as I pick him up he stops and falls right to sleep.  Once he's knocked out I put him on his bed and he stays asleep.

I got to surf the other day.  I was having one of those days where you just feel lazy and tired.  We ran a few errands and I watched Tim surf for about an hour.  I sat on the sand and fed the little king.  We ended up stopping at Rocky Point and I surfed in the sunset.  It was a beautiful sunset!  The sky was purple and orange and blue.  I'm so happy I got in the water and got some exercise.  Nainoa was hungry as soon as we got to the car and started to cry really loud.  There was a really nice lady who let me rinse off in her yard so that I could feed him.  We also ran into a man who was pushing his sons in their strollers.  He had triplets!  Yikes!

Tonight we ate dinner at Kahuku Grill, or as Tim and I like to call it, "haole grill."  (Because that's where all the haole's stay li'dat!)  It's not your typical local style plate lunch.  They serve fresh green salads and put a little more effort into the food and presentation.  They also have cooks and workers who sing constantly in the kitchen.  The past 3 times I've been there some girl has been belting it out in the back!  I really like their Teriyaki chicken plate.  It's onolicious!  Simple, healthy (none of that extra oily stuff), AND fresh!  I also like that it's a local business and not some chain food restaurant.  The only thing I wish they served is Kalua pig and cabbage. Yum. Ok and maybe some laulau.  Yes, I'm asking to much now.

My days are blurring together and seem uneventful at times but then Nainoa will do something funny or cute, sometimes he'll just smile at me, and when he does my heart and my life feel full.  I wouldn't trade these moments for anything.

2 Months & This Week

He makes my world go round and round and round.

Tuesday.  The appointment went well and we passed with flying colors!  Before the interview Nainoa made a loud fart in the waiting room.  It was hilarious because the room was so quiet.  I also had to attempt feeding him in public for the first time!  I succeeded in not crying out in pain when we had an off latch.  After that Nainoa got this flirt on with aunty Sina, Kiele, and Crimson.  We met up with the girls for lunch at Gyu Kaku, then we went back to Crimson's apartment and hung out for a few hours.

It was a very special day because today Nainoa is 2 months old!  It's amazing how time flies and I'm in awe of the miracle that he is.  He is the sweetest and most content little boy.  I love everything about him from the top of his head to his little long toes.  I feel so lucky to be his mom.  My friend's wife keeps a family blog and her baby is a week older than Nainoa.  In a way it gives me a heads up for what I can expect with my son.  There are so many new things he is learning I never know where to start, and by the time I do start I forget what I wanted to say.  And now I'm not sure if I already wrote about it.  I really need to get my head in order....

-Ok.  I double checked my blog, and I did write about it.

Also it was my dear friend Sanoe's birthday!  She's such an amazing example to me managing 3 boys, school, and work at the same time!  She's such a wonderful mother and wife.

Wednesday.  I woke up this morning at 5:30 to feed the little king.  After putting him back to sleep I pumped my extra milk, changed into my swimsuit and went for a surf with my sister Amz.  When I got home I tried to do some ab workouts.  I still feel sluggish on land and in the water but I'm starting to get a little bit better.  Baby and daddy were still sleeping peacefully.  I love my boys!  Everyone woke up and we got ready to go see Dr. Nagamine, or "Dr. Nanakuli" as Tim likes to say, for Nainoa's 2 month checkup.  Nainoa is 10 lbs. 15 oz.  and is 22 inches long.  I still don't understand the whole percentile thing but his head is in the 63%.  I asked the nurse to explain it and I think she said that 50% means that you're average and then she said 95% is really good.  50% of what?  I'm so confused.  Nainoa tried to kick Dr. Nanakuli in the stomach! lol.  It was so cute.  The Dr. said he's growing beautifully and that he has a really big head.  I know he gets it from his mommy!  Then the nurse came in to administer his vaccinations!  I was nervous.  I ended up giving him the oral one, but he swallowed some of it down the wrong pipe.  It was really uncomfortable for him and he made a crying noise that I've never heard him make before.  He finally coughed enough to clear his pipes and once he calmed down the nurse was able to give him the first shot.  The look of shock and pain on his face made me feel sad but I'm glad that I got to hold him and comfort him afterwards.  The second shot was the same as the first but he was pretty shaken up.  The nurse said the second one is the one babies really don't like.  We had brunch in Kailua at the Morning Brew (they have the best coffee on the windward side!), then went to Long's, bought some infant tylenol and then home.

Thursday.  (I'm writing this and it's late friday night)  I can't remember what I did this day or night.  I do remember that Tim made dinner and it was delicious.  Chicken with sauteed asparagus and mashed potatoes.  Simple and satisfying!

Friday.  Nainoa slept for 9 hours!  We woke up at 6 to feed and then he went straight back to sleep.  I've been going surfing with my sister at Castles in the morning.  We went on Monday, Wednesday, and we were going to go this morning but when we got to the beach we saw that there were no waves. So instead we came back home, put on some running shoes, and tried to go for a jog.  It seemed like a good idea but it was hard!  My body was struggling, trying to remember how to move.  We jogged for not more than 10 minutes.  I stretched and now I'm trying not to fall asleep.  Tim wants to go and eat breakfast at Cafe Haleiwa so I guess it's time to shower and go.

We ended up eating at Cholos.  I had a bacon burrito and Tim got an acai bowl from the Coffee Gallery  (Best coffee on the north shore!)  Tim left for work with his friend Gary and I drove our car home with Nainoa.  Unfortunately right after Tim left I realized I had to go the toilet... Yes... #2. Uh oh!  I didn't want to take Nainoa into the public bathroom with me.  I thought I could make it home to Laie, a 30 minute drive.  And I was right!  I know this is an over share (lol) but I had to do my slow chest breathing (learned in lamaze) all the way home.  It was a close call. Hahahaha.

Here are a few pictures from the past week.

Sometimes I dance a little hula for Nainoa so that he can follow my hands AND I try to sing the words to him.  I hope that he will grow to love hawaiian music as much as I do if not more.  I've been having a craving lately to understand the different and multiple meanings of the different mele that I've been hearing over and over again on ch. 24 (the tv schedule that plays hawaiian music on Oceanic Cable).

We were hanging out playing with baby when we decided to pull out the camera.  He's looking at me in this pic.  I think was singing songs to him from the movie Enchanted.  "Come my little friends as we all sing a happy little working song!"  Tim takes such good photos.

My little sweetheart!  He is growing way to fast.

The turtle is Nainoa's big brother Umi.  Tim & I got him in Japan in the middle of Tokyo Bay!

He's such a special and sweet little boy and he's growing stronger every day.  This morning, or maybe it was yesterday morning, he pinched me under my arm really hard because I was taking to long to feed him.  Sometimes he just stares up into the ceiling.  I think he sees angels.  When I told Tim this he said, "Really? You think so?"  Then Nainoa said something that sounded like, "kinda."

He's my little angel.

Mr. Everything

For Tim

How was I to know that right after I wrote this song you would come into my life and make it about you. I loooooove you!

My Name is Nainoa

(What would my son say about his life?  Hmmmm....)

My name is Nainoa.  I live with my mommy and daddy in Laie.  We live with my Papa Mufasa and Grandmamamamama.  Aunty Ambah also lives with us.  Life is simple and fun for me.  I sleep, I wake up to eat, then play and then I go back to sleep.  This is the routine my mom is trying to keep me on, but sometimes I change it up... because I can.  I'm learning so much so fast.

Mommy wakes me up around 4 every morning to eat.  I usually go right back to bed, but not without spitting up on mommy a few times.  Sometimes I'll eat, then fall asleep without burping.  Mommy tries to burp me, but it doesn't work when I'm sleeping.  After a while she takes me into the room to change my diaper.  This is when I wake up and spit comes up and drips down the side of my face onto the changing table.  If mommy is lucky she gets to wipe up my spitty and poopy diaper AND sometimes I squirt out a little extra poopy for mommy to clean off of my changing table. teeheehee!  Then I give her a big smile to let her know I appreciate and love her.  After this she takes me back to our special chair that she feeds me in.  I might eat a little more and then go back to sleep.  If I had a nice big feed before I went to bed at night I won't wake up for another 2-3 hours.  Then our day really starts!

Mommy feeds me then we have play time!  I sit and listen to mommy sing to me on my changing table and sometimes she plays guitar for me.  I like to have tummy time but not for to long.  I can see and explore more when I'm on my back.  I can spot my mom from a distance and I like it when she smiles at me.  She likes it when I smile back at her.

My mom and dad are constantly wiping my left eye with a warm little towel.  Doctor Nanakuli (his name is really Nagamine, but daddy likes to call him nanakuli for some reason) said that I have a blocked tear duct.  it should go away on its own.

My nails grow so fast!  Mommy just clipped my nails last night.

I have a friend named Papaya.  He's a puppy dog!  He doesn't get to sleep with me, but I get to play with him and some finger puppets that aunty diana gave me.  Al the owl, gerogero the turtle,  and kura the monkey.

Daddy says I'm really strong.  I can hold up my head and look around.  I try to stand up on everyone's tummy when they hold me while sitting on the couch.  Mommy and daddy call me a little coconut head.  Daddy is a rock head.  Mommy is a hard coconut head.  They say my head is really heavy.

Sometimes mommy lets me fall asleep in her arms.  I like to hold on to the top of her shirt so she doesn't pass me away to someone else, or put me down in my bed.  I'm working on my super grip!  I grab mommy's hands, or shirt so she can't get away from me.  Sometimes I get to sleep on the beach with Daddy while mommy goes surfing.

Once mommy finishes feeding me I like to play for about half an hour.  I love to listen to jack johnson and watch my mommy and daddy sing and dance for me.  I also like the beach boys and Hall & Oates. I like to take walks and go for long drives in our car.  We go to Haleiwa a lot and mommy eats a lot of that mexican food.  I think I like it!

Sometimes I get to talk to my Meme and Papa in Australia on the computer.  Meme sings to me and tells me about Australia and all the fun things we are going to do together.  I have a lot of fun toys and cute clothes, and best of all more family to love.  They are waiting for me in Australia.

I love being here on earth!  My mommy and daddy love me and I love them.
