9 Months

Our boy makes 9 months today! He's such a funny little guy. Today I made him a mash up of chicken avocado and cheese. He loved it! I love our little Ewok.

My Little Boy

Nainoa is turning into such a little boy and is hardly a baby anymore.  It's so fun to see his personality develop and to see him learning new things.  Here's what he's been up to lately.

-on skype he was standing, leaning against the couch in front of the computer, waving with one hand, and then he started lifting both hands and holding them together over his head, showing off.

-He holds his bottle with one hand.  I know that a lot of babies can already do this but I haven't given Nainoa too many bottles so he's a little behind.

-He's starting to discover that he can stand on his own with holding onto anything for a second.

-Nainoa made a new friend.  Her name is Esme and she's the same age as him.  The other day we were at a cafe and they were sitting in their own strollers next to each other and they started holding hands.  THEN she brought her face close to his fingers and tried to get him to touch her eye.  This was probably her way of making up the fact that she tried to gouge his eye out last week saturday.

-He can also climb up the stairs at the playground.  He hadn't been by any stairs before this, I put him by them and he started to climb! :)

He's going to make 9 months tomorrow!  Although technically it will be in two days because Aus is a day ahead of Hawaii.

Well Tim's kicking me off the computer now.  Pictures to come soon.

I Can Do Anything Good

I had such a good time last night at Zumba.  I worked up a really good sweat, and decided to hang out a little afterwards talking to the zumba instructor and to my new zumba gay friend Lucas.  He's training to be a zumba instructor and brought a track for Sabrina, the instructor, to hear.  We ended up dancing ideas around the room and ended up doing another 45 minutes more of zumba.  It was like going to a private class and it was awesome!  There were only 6 of us and we had the whole room to ourselves.  It was so fun!  Best of all, I got asked to make up a little polynesian zumba routine and to teach it next week monday.  I'm really excited and I've been running ideas through my head since coming home from class last night.  My Timmy made pasta for dinner and then made me some chai.

I woke up in the morning and it looked like it was going to be a really nice day, so I decided to go with Tim and our friend Rick to the beach.  Nainoa, of course, came too.  I knew it would be ok because the weather woman in the morning said it was going to be a fabulous day.  I'm so happy I went.  The water was freezing, my wetsuit was getting water in it, and with my first wave I felt so alive!  Wet suits are really confining if you're not used to them, and I'm not.  My whole body was stiff, and cold I knew I wouldn't last long.  Today was such a good day.

So now Nainoa and I are cruisin' at home while Tim is at training.  Going to give the little king a bath and then put him down for the night.

He's such a funny little boy.  He really enjoyed being at the beach and didn't waste anytime getting the sand into his mouth.  He crawled and rolled around on the sand, and even got to take a nap in his dad's arms while I was in the water.  Sometimes when people walked past us he would raise both arms and say, "heeeeeey" and try to get their attention.

He's still sleeping through the night and has only woken up a few times in the early morning, but he usually has a short cry, not even a minute, and then he's back asleep.  He's been trying table food too.  I've given him a little bit of bread, and small pieces of chicken.  He's been exploring his voice lately and yelling really loud when he's in his high chair.  He yells especially loud when he doesn't like the food I'm feeding him.

He's escaping from his little fenced off area and it's time to take a bath.  He's turning into such a little boy, and is hardly a baby anymore.

I feel like this.  If you have never seen it you NEED to watch it!

Under the Gloom

Gloom is a funny word.  Melbourne seems to have fallen under it and I find myself, more often than not, following.  People keep asking me how I'm doing, or how I'm settling in.  I have my good and bad days like everyone else, but I can tell people just want to hear me say that I'm getting along just fine.  I try to stay positive, but then end up admitting that, YES it is hard and NO I'm not okay.  Today is just one of those days.  I admit to defeat.  It doesn't mean I'm not going to get up and try again tomorrow.  It means I'm feeling sorry for myself today and I'm writing it here because there's no where else for me to put it.  It's hard.  It just is.

It's hard to see all the good things that are happening around me.  It's hard to appreciate all of the good things too.  It's hard to be myself.  Everything and my thoughts thrown under the weather, while I try hopelessly to stay dry.  It's hard to stop myself from eating all the time, or eating too much.  It's especially hard when the sky outside is the darkest gray I've every seen and it's stupid cold and rainy.

I read and re read what I've just written and think of how ungrateful I'm being, but it is what it is.  I'm going to go to bed and wake up to another stormy day tomorrow.  I'll try to find a way to make things better.  That's all I can do.  Normally I would practice the advice I learned when I was little, to count my blessings.  It's my go to.  100% of the time it works... every time.   That's for another time in another tone.

That being said, things are already starting to look brighter.

Fertility Control Clinic

SO... my IUD, it was supposed, had moved.  I've been feeling moodier, and hungrier, and on one day even nauseous.  I immediately thought that I might be pregnant.  I secretly hoped I was.  Sad to say I'm not pregnant. ;) Lol.  I do want to have more children, but I know now is not the time.  But if I was pregnant, I'd be happy.  I was worried about my IUD so we scheduled an appointment with a women's doctor to get it checked.

It was Monday and a 10am appointment.  When we got dropped off, opposite the clinic, we saw people on the sidewalk holding signs and little rosaries.  We had to walk down the street, cross it, then walk back up.  As we neared the crowd, to my dismay, we realized they were abortion protestors.  Mostly older people.  They were holding little crosses, and one person even had a big display of a little fetus.  The clinic we were going to was a fertility control clinic aka a place where people go to get abortions done.  I felt so embarrassed and worried that those people would think I was going to get an abortion.  The first protestor was really nice and offered me a pamphlet.  He asked me if I was pregnant or knew anyone who was pregnant that they could help.  I told him, "I might be pregnant! I hope, and we're really excited!"  I felt like all these people outside the building were thinking that we were going to get an abortion.

We were escorted by a security gaurd into the building.  Yes.  They have one security gaurd, and it turns out those protestors have done their job outside that clinic for the past 25 years!  We had Nainoa with us in the stroller and I felt weird going into a place and taking my perfect little boy too, where countless little lives were ended for whatever reasons.  I'm not passing judgement on people who have abortions.  That is their decision to make, but at the same time I am against it unless it is absolutely necessary.  I held Nainoa while we waited for the doctor and hoped that someone would maybe glimpse the joy I feel from having a baby, and maybe change their mind.  Lol.  Not everyone goes to that clinic for abortions.  Some people might be going there to get help so they can have a baby.  Anyway I'm just silly like that.

The end.
