Family Photos

Last Saturday we were so lucky to be able to sit for some family pictures with the beautiful and talented Ashlee Decaires.  We had a lot of fun and the pictures of Nainoa turned out so beautiful!  Here's a link to her page and the pictures she posted from the photoshoot.

Nainoa is now 3 weeks old!  This past week he weighed in at 7 lbs 7.5 oz!  Then two days later he weighed in again at 7lbs 11 oz.  Breastfeeding is getting better, but it's still a challenge and sometimes it feels like we (nainoa and I) are fighting with each other to get him to latch on!  I have to block his hitting and pinching of my sore and tender nipples. lol.

These are probably my FAVOURITE!  (I spelt it with a U because that's how Timmy spells it) ah! love my boys!

Le Nevez Ohana

Nainoa has been exploring his voice and making a lot of really cute noises.  I actually saw him making a conscious effort to reproduce a noise he made that both Tim and I repeated back to him.  It was like a sweet little sigh.  He's so cute and we love him so much.  Can't get enough of him!  It's so fun to see him waking up.  He makes the funniest faces and looks like a little ninja when he stretches out.

Father's Day

Yesterday was Father's Day in Australia, my first one! It was really hot so we spent most of the day inside, Tif and Nainoa actually had a really good rest. After they both fell asleep in the afternoon i ducked off for a surf out at Goat Island. It was small but still a great way to cool off from the heat. Today we went into Haleiwa and Tif bought me a watch for Father's Day, so I can come in from the surf on time haha. Nainoa is doing great and changing all the time, he is growing and starting to interact with me which is fun. He even has been trying to talk to me lately!

Don't Mess With Me!

Don't Mess with me!  My dad makes this face too!  Don't mess with him either!

It's been a long day at the office!

Now it's time to relax!

What was that noise!?  Daddy farted and tried to blame it on me!

teehee hee... J/k it was me!

Mommy loves me! Oh yessy!

Nainoa Week 2

Nainoa has a little gecko friend.  I've always noticed with my sister's kids anytime there were babies in the house there would be one or two geckos watching over them.  So when I saw this baby gecko on the wall I decided he's a friend.  AND he's probably eating all the stupid little ants in our room.  I think we will give him a name soon.  Nainoa's friend.

Stretching out!

Sweet smiles!

Cousin Kamani came over again and got to hold Nainoa.  Whenever he talks to the baby he does it in a reaaaally high pitched voice.  It's so cute!

Happy birthday papa!!!

Going through a growth spurt and wanting to eat A LOT.  Breastfeeding was starting to get easier, but with a growth spurt things have gotten a little bit more complicated.  We get over one hurdle only to have jump another.  But it's okay!  He has gained a whole pound since last week!  He is now 7.5 lbs!  I'm so sleepy so I think that's all for now!  I'm going to try to throw his pictures together into a slideshow if I have time.  I probably won't have time.

And now I'm going to pick up a book and read myself to sleep.  Goodnight Neverlaaaaaand!

I need to sleep while my son sleeps!

F Word!

I was just thinking, "F word!"  And I don't mean the actual F bomb I mean, "F word!"

Today we went to the hospital again to get some breastfeeding help and we left with a GREAT latch, and a very sleepy well fed baby.  We went to visit uncle Al in town and I fed Nainoa again when he stepped out.  AGAIN we had success and a very satisfied baby.   BUT when we got home... I couldn't do it again.  This made my baby very upset and frustrated, and then I got upset and frustrated.  Tim tried to help, but I wasn't ready to be helped yet.  I needed to calm down, baby needed to calm down.  FINALLY after several attempts to get a proper latch, I did!  But baby only stayed on for a few minutes and then fell into a deep sleep.  Now I'm sitting in bed winding down and I feel so pooped!  This is my explanation for thinking to myself, "F word."

And now for the purpose of this blog.  I just remembered when I was in labor I accidentally let the F word slip.  In front of my mom, sister, and Timmy.  I immediately apologized to them.  Lucky for me, my mom didn't hear!  I think my sister might've heard it and I know Tim did.  We laughed about it later on.  I think I forgot to include that in my birth story.  So I wanted to write it here in case anyone cares.

Now for the latest update on baby:

Nainoa gained a pound this past week!  He does not have an infection in his eye, he is getting chubbier by the day, and his poops are starting to lose their sweet smell.  He's going through a growth spurt right now and wanting to feed more often.  He makes us both so happy.

Lately, because of his chubby face, he's looking a bit more polynesian.  I feel so lucky to be his mom!

Nainoa & Cousins

This is only the 3rd time we've put him in clothes.  The rest of the time he's in diapers and swaddled up in his blankie.

His cousins were so happy they could FINALLY meet him.  Makamau was asking me earlier if the baby came out my mouth. LoL.  And then the twins told me I wasn't fat anymore, that I was skinny!!!

Look at those boys and their smiles!  They were so happy to meet him.  But Nainoa wasn't used to hearing so many voices and being surrounded by so many people.  So he cried.  Kamani got to hold him even before Rissa!

I remember holding Kamani when he was as small as Nainoa.  Kamani is so sweet.  He's always telling me he loves me and he loves Nainoa, and one day he's going to have a baby too!  But AFTER he gets back from his mission his mom said.

My Sweethearts.  I love them both so much!

Week 1

This time last week I was in labor.  Tim and I were on the set of Hawaii 5-0 hanging out and watching them shoot a pretty big stunt.  In about 14 hours from now Nainoa will be 1 week old!  The days are blurring together, it's hard to believe he was only in my belly last week!  It feels like he's always been with us.  We are learning to breastfeed together.  ALL THREE OF US!  Tim has sat with me through almost every feeding as we try to get a proper latch.  It's a challenge but I know we can do it!

Here are a few pictures from our first week together as a family.

Tim and I still trying to perfect our swaddling techniques!

Our little sweetheart

Thanks to Sanoe for coming over and teaching us to swaddle "mo' bettah!"

Nainoa loves his Aunty Ambah

His cheeks have gotten chubbier since we first brought him home.  It's so fun to watch him grow.  He enjoys listening to Jack Johnson, and Hawaiian 105 KINE.   He also loves it when we sing to him.   The other day we were listening to the soundtrack for the movie Curious George.  Nainoa loves it!  The three of us were dancing together and Tim and I tried to sing along.  We didn't know the words. Lol.  Wish we could've caught it on video.

I love being a mom and I love my family.

How's his face?! Lol.
